Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you take direct bookings? We prefer to utilise booking sites like Air BNB and HipCamp for accommodation bookings as both services provide a robust booking system with secure payment, reliable ratings and cover for our guests and our property.
-
Are pets allowed at Spookwood? As the property has farm animals roaming around our preference is to say "no" to having pets on the property. We are open to discussions if the animals are tied up when outside or remain in your caravan. We do not allow pets (apart from Service Animals) in the Farmhouse.
-
Are children welcome for Spookwood stays?Absolutely, in fact the property has been developed to give children a chance to explore and connect with nature. With farm animals to feed, swings to play on and even a fairy garden to explore. Its important to know however that the farmhouse and the property is not "baby-proof" and it is important to supervise your children as there are natural obstacles, wild animals, farm animals, steep hills, dam and creek access.
-
Can additional guests stay in the farmhouse? Our farmhouse comfortably sleeps 8 people and has enough towels, cutlery and crockery for 8 guests. We are happy to discuss additional guests for an extra guest fee per night, currently $15 per guest. There is a bunk in one of the rooms to cater for 1 extra and a spare mattress which can be moved to the living area.
-
How long do you recommend staying? There is so much to do on the property you will want to make sure you have time to explore and relax. Then there is plenty of day trips and attractions in the region to enjoy. We recommend a minimum of 2 nights, but most guests find that 3 or 4 nights give them more time to enjoy the full experience and truly disconnect from city-life and reconnect with friends, family and nature.
-
Where did the name Spookwood come from?Starting out life as Coolakin Creek Estate the property was renamed Spookwood when the owner's Grandkids came to visit and told Pop that the trees looked really Spooky.
-
What animals are on the farm to see or feed?We have friendly peacocks, peahens and chickens in a coop near the farmstead that usually free range during the day. You can feed them your food scraps (except avocado, onions, raw potato, citrus, chocolate, uncooked rice and beans), sunflower seeds and even help collect the eggs. There are also sheep roaming the property with a pet lamb who may come to visit and loves Lupins! You are also likely to see a family of Kangaroos that hang around our vineyard, beehives (bee careful around these though!) and a large variety of native birds including Kookaburras, Magpies, Red-tailed black Cockatoos and Carnaby Cockatoos.
-
How do we get to Spookwood? Most mapping apps will bring you right to our gate. It is important to put in "56 Redman Road WIlliams" and not just Redman Road as this will take you a back way to a locked gate and you won't be able to reach the property. It is important to ensure you travel along Quindanning-Darkan Road to access Redman Road otherwise you will not be able to reach us.
-
What are your opening hours? The property is currently open by accommodation bookings or appointments only. We do not currently have a Cellar Door or Activities on site for public.
-
Is there a Dump Point onsite or nearby? We do not currently have a dump point on the property. The nearest dump points are located at Boddington (47km) or Williams (47km).
-
When will self-contained campsites be available? We are currently in the process of applying for nature-based park status to allow guests to stay at Spookwood in one of our secluded self-contained sites. We are hoping to offer this service later in 2023.
-
Where can I find Spoodwood Wine for sale?Currently there is very limited wine available in the market and we only have a small supply of 2017 Reserve Blanc available for guests staying on the property. We expect a 2024 vintage to be released for sale when we relicense the vineyard.
-
Can I buy Spookwood merchandise? We are adding a range of Spookwood merchandise including beanies, caps and stubby holders for sale. Check out our online shop for current stock.
-
Where do I request a refund or complain? We want our guests and customers to always be happy with their purchase. If however you have an issue we want to know about it and help resolve it. The best avenue will depend on the service, but if unsure reach out to us here and we will point you in the right direction. Where you have booked accommodation through a website eg Air BNB, Stayz or HipCamp you will need to provide your feedback and request refunds or compensation through the site as they have processes required to reverse payments and issue refunds. If you have purchased a product directly from us please email or contact us directly and provide your feedback and concerns and we can arrange a suitable solution.
